The 'Biber', a renowned 'pocket' submarine, was employed by the Kriegsmarine towards the end of World War II. Its development was swift, commencing in February 1944 and seeing the first units launched merely six months later. At just 9 meters in length, it boasted a range of 240 km. Capable of speeds up to 6.5 knots on the surface and 5.3 knots submerged, the Biber could be armed with two 530 mm torpedoes or two mines. Manned by a single crew member, its purpose was to fortify coastal defenses against impending Allied invasions.
