The 'Semovente' 75/18 M40, a Fiat Ansaldo creation, was deployed by Regio Esercito in North Africa from late 1941, seeing action until World War II's end. Based on the M13/40's chassis, it was Italy's most numerous armored vehicle to significantly threaten Allied tanks. Its 75mm gun packed a punch, even against heavily armored foes like the Sherman.
